This is an "Alligator Gar" caught on May 3, 2003 in Guntersville Lake.
It has been certified as the 2nd largest Gar ever caught, and an Alabama record.
Earl's fish had a certified weight of 215 pounds with a total length of 7 feet, 11.5 inches and a 40 inch girth. Caught on a small homemade yellow walleye jig.
My copy of Enemies Foreign and Domestic arrived yesterday. I stayed up reading until I couldn't keep my eyes open any more. It's 568 pages of small type, the first 200 of which are available at the web site. I'll probably finish it within a couple of days. Bravo, Matthew Bracken!
