The Oregon Child "Protection" Mafia Marches On

From kaba:
If you have to obtain a government license or permit to exercise a right, the government doesn't view it as a right at all. -- Angel Shamaya

From survivalarts:

Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual). -- Ayn Rand

From The Federalist:

"There is a secret pride in every human heart that revolts at tyranny. You may order and drive an individual, but you cannot make him respect you." -- William Hazlitt
and:
The Mullah of Baghdad issued an edict Friday forbidding wives from having sex with their husbands if they participated in looting. What a novel approach. If Congressional mistresses were this organized we could balance the budget by Tuesday. -- Argus Hamilton

From stanleyscoop:

As always, it must be known by now that nothing in the government will silence this American, EVER. Try it and those that come will pay the price. You see, this is a very AMERICAN response to the tyranny of government. My message to the government that has overthrown America? Retire, leave, and make it soon. I am coming for you. You don't know who you are messing with. Those who would destroy the Rights in the US Constitution, will be destroyed and the Declaration of Independence is my guide. If you are a member of the current or past government that has overthrown America, and have accomplished treasonous acts against "We the People", (we know who you are), I am coming. I, Rick Stanley, am every American. I am madder than hell about what you have done to my children's heritage and birthright. The American Republic will be restored, and you who have helped to bury it, will soon be in chains or hung by the neck. I would run if I were you. You don't seem to understand how nasty I can get when you are messing with the US Constitution, and America. You are going to find out. Not a threat, no sir. A PROMISE! -- Rick Stanley

russmo.com - Statues & Principles - cartoon commentary on the statue toppling you should have seen on the news. Hehe.

FlashBunny.org - The Truth About 'Assault Weapons' - a Flash animation explaining the "assault" weapons ban and making it crystal clear that the only people who benefit from it are the gun grabbers. It had zero affect on crime. Let it sunset, or get rid of it before then. For the children. [kaba]

So if the 'Assault Weapons Ban' doesn't reduce crime,
costs lawful gun owners money, and infringes on
Second Amendment rights, why would anyone support it?

Because to the people who want to ban all guns,
it's a step in the right direction.

Henrietta Bowman at Sierra Times - What is it with Oregon? - First the Christine family. Now Taylor McLaren. The Oregon child "protection" mafia continues its mission to break up loving families.

Jessie Seyfer at The San Jose Mercury News - Barking No Joke to Cop - bark at a police dog, go to jail, for up to a year. Sheesh. [kaba]

When a Palo Alto police dog barked at Richard Dillon, the Menlo Park man barked back.

Dillon's actions didn't amuse Palo Alto police, who cited him on a misdemeanor charge of taunting a police dog. On Tuesday, Dillon pleaded not guilty in Santa Clara County court.

Now Dillon hopes to go to trial, because he thinks the charge is ``ridiculous,'' said his attorney, Donald Tasto.

Fred on Everything - The Two Cultures: In Which Fred Endeavors To Get Himself Lynched - an imminently practical and rational proposal for changing how our kids are educated. Which of course means it will never happen. [pournelle]

For those who want an academic education, I say establish separate schools, and make attendance at all schools voluntary after the eighth grade. Those who wanted to learn nothing more would simply drop out, to the great benefit of serious students. The force of parental suasion would keep those students in attendance who ought to be in attendance.

Jeff Quinn at Gunblast.com - Savage Model 93R17 .17 HMR - 1/2 MOA for $261 (retail) plus scope.

Upon unpacking the rifle, it was readily apparent that Savage knows the purpose for which the little .17 HMR is intended. The FVSS wears a heavy barrel void of open sights, and is equipped with real scope mount bases. Most rimfire rifles are merely grooved for lightweight tip-off rings, but Savage thoughtfully provides the FVSS with pre-mounted Weaver style scope bases, which are much better for mounting a full size scope sight. It would be great if every gun manufacturer would follow suit and do the same.

Survival Arts - Ken Lunde on the new Sig-Sauer P226ST in .357 Sig - Mr. Lunde likes his new pistol.

Sportsman's Guide has the Meprolight Reflex Sight for $300, and they have the Docter Red Dot Sight for $300 plus $50 for a mount. Good deal on the Meprolight. About the same price as ordering direct from Docter optics for the DOCTERsight®.
