There's a new issue of The Libertarian Enterprise. This issue is entirely devoted to a letter from Phil Murphy of Brassroots. In it, he copies an email from David Hardy, "one of the lead investigating attorneys in the Waco case". The email tells some of the conclusions reached by Carlos Ghigliotti, an infrared expert who worked on the Waco FLIR videos. Mr. Ghigliotti was recently found dead in his office. An autopsy should be completed sometime today. He worked with a good copy of the video, much better quality than the copies in the Waco videos available to you and me: Waco: A New Revelation and Waco: The Rules of Engagement. Mr. Ghigliotti was able to see people and identify exchanges of gunfire behind the Branch Davidian building. {@Waco Investigator Dead} is my local mirror of the story.

The Libertarian Enterprise is starting to publish weekly, instead of bi-monthly. Yay!

Elian Raid Satire: There are some things that money can't buy... For everything else... there's the Federal Government. This is an 85K animated GIF. Potent. [grabbe]

Ron Paul's Texas Straight Talk - The Cost of War: After the Bombs Stop the True Impact Becomes Obvious.

Don Lobo Tiggre at Laissez Faire City Times - The Feral Answer to FIJA: gives three examples, including the Peter McWilliams case, of federal judges denying plaintiffs from presenting any evidence that could convince a jury of their innocence. Recommends that we all join FIJA, the Fully Informed Jury Association. What if juries started requesting, while sequestered, the evidence that the judge is forbidding to be brought out in court?

Jury power is the only power close enough to the action in this arena that can counter judge power. Everyone who cares about freedom should do what they can to enhance jury power. Join FIJA. Get them to expand their program -- and then help them do it. Let's show the bastards some real contempt of court!
I would love for this to work. Unfortunately, I think the courts are also too far gone for reform, though they don't seem to be quite as hopeless as congress or the executive.

Charles Fishman at Fast Company - They Write the Right Stuff: talks about the software development process used by the 260 women and men who work at the Johnson Spacecraft Center writing the control software for the space shuttle. How they managed to release 11 versions of a 420,000 line program with a total of only 17 errors. Angus Glashier waxes eloquent (and accurate, IMHO) about why you wouldn't want to develop commercial software this way.

Joke of the day: A woman wants one man to give her everything. A man wants every woman to give him one thing.

Yesterday, I played with the search engines on J. Orlin Grabbe's links page, looking for "End the War on Freedom".
