What Happened to the Ban on Assault Weapons?
Jimmy Carter at The New York Times - I didn't know that Jimmy Carter was a gun grabber. Sigh...
Since the purpose of owning guns is a check on government, it is obvious that government cannot be allowed to restrict ownership in any way. Hence, "the right of the people, to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." But then if you're power damaged, you don't care about your oath. All you care about is power.
An overwhelming majority of Americans, including me and my hunting companions, believe in the right to own weapons, but surveys show that they also support modest restraints like background checks, mandatory registration and brief waiting periods before purchase.
