Lunar Eclipse

CNN - Lunar eclipse offers celestial treat - I watched the eclipse enter totality last night, sitting on a chair in the turnaround, where I could see the moon through an opening in the trees, with my spotting scope propped on my lap (it has two swiveling legs, one of which I swiveled out to act as a monopod). Shortly after going total, it was obscured by clouds, and I went to sleep. CNN has story, pictures, and subcription-only video. I didn't see any red hue in the shadow, but some of these pictures show it. [google]

Garry Reed, The Loose Cannon Libertarian - The Coffee War - now two students at an Iowa City college want to force politically correct coffee on their fellows, at the point of a government gun, of course. When will they ever learn.

John Horgan at MSNBC - Timothy Leary revisited - should psychedelic drugs be legalized? Of course. But not for the reasons stated here. Yes, these arguments are true, that entheogens are harmless and even beneficial if used properly, but their harmfulness has nothing to do with it. Your body belongs to you. You have the absolute right to ingest anything you want. And it ain't nobody's business if you do. Anyone who initiates force to stop you is a criminal, and you are justified in defending yourself against that person, with extreme prejudice, no matter which fancy uniform or funny hat he's wearing, and no matter how many people voted for him or his chain of command.
