Welcome Back, Lance!

I'm back in Albany. Managed to get some good rest in the 4 hours from LA to Pittsburg and the hour from their to here, but I can tell that I'm gonna crash this afternoon, so I'll be heading home in time for lunch.

Mike Shelton at the Orange County Register - Every world cop should wear one! - cartoon commentary on the reincarnation of the ABM crock.

Lance Newby is back to blogging at My Cluttered Desk. Welcome back, Lance!

Charley Reese at the Orlando Sentinel - Gun-control elitists hate, fear common people - The brady bunch, liars all. Why to they lie? They want to enslave you.

Probably no subject generates more lies and deliberate distortions of the facts than gun control.

It's easy to understand once you comprehend that the motivation is to disarm the common citizens of the United States. The talk may be about crime or safety or children, but the goal is to disarm the common citizens.

...

And that's where the circle closes. Those who want to deprive you of your right to keep and bear arms are intending to deprive you of your freedom, period. Like the criminals their policies encourage, these elitists know that it is always best to disarm victims before you enslave them. I've seen this elitist fear among my own colleagues.

Aldrin Brown at The Orange County Register - State fires first in O.C. man's tax battle - Huntington Beach businessman George "Nick" Jesson has been daring the government to make him pay taxes. They raided his business and stole his computers, documnents, and financial records, supposedly looking for evidence of his tax evasion. Mr. Jesson, I salute you.

Julia Scheeres at Wired - Live From N.Y.: Security Cam Hams - Big Brother is watching, but some folks are protesting for the camera. In particular, Bill Brown's Surveillance Camera Players. Hehe. [cafe]

Paul Graham - Beating the Averages - The story of viaweb, now the Yahoo! Store. This is an automated store site generator written largely in Lisp. A middling expression of why Lisp is such a good language (not that I could do better, but it just didn't excite me, even though I agree with his conclusion).
