Today is the George Washington's 201st birthday. Happy birthday, George! I join in the chorus repeating a quotation of his that we must always remember:

Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. -- George Washington

University of California, Berkeley - Patent filed on energy discovery: UC Berkeley and Colorado scientists find valuable new source of fuel: Sunlight + Algae = Hydrogen. Wow! "I guess it's the equivalent of striking oil," said UC Berkeley plant and microbial biology professor Tasios Melis. "It was enormously exciting, it was unbelievable." Not yet commercially viable.

The Palm IIIc. Can you say color? $449. The Palm IIIxe. 8MB in the palm of your hand for $249.

BTW, I often forget to steer flow (all 50 or 60 of you) to my sources. The two paragraphs above come to you compliments of Slashdot.

Washington Post via Cannabis News - Conservative Push for Pot: when his friend Darell Putman discovered that cannabis eased the nausea he felt after chemotherapy, Del Murphy, a self-described "law-and-order Republican who is pro-life, pro-gun, against the big trial lawyer stuff, union stuff, all that," changed his stance on marijuana. He "has introduced a bill in the Maryland legislature that would legalize marijuana for medical reasons." Strange what a dose of reality will do for you, eh? Of course he now finds himself up against the lie-induced stupor of the prohibitionists. Good luck to you, Mr. Murphy.

On Saturday I watched the new Waco film, Waco: A New Revelation. This one shows convincingly that not only did the feds start the fire and shoot automatic weapons at the Davidians as they attempted to escape from the back of the building, they set off a large explosion on top of "the bunker", where many of the women and children were staying, and where they might have survived the fire (it was the only building to survive an earlier fire). The explosion was a large enough blast to kill everyone inside. This one was not as emotionally draining as the first video, Waco: Rules of Engagement. When I saw the FLIR videos clearly documenting the machine-gunning at the back of the building, and realized that the feds had engaged in calculated, cold-blooded, mass torture & murder, I wailed for a full 5 minutes.

KTamaga is a FREE Tamagotchi emulator for X-Window systems with KDE. I've gotta try this. I'll report back on how the build and run go on my LinuxPPC system at home, in sha' allah. This link comes to you compliments of freshmeat.net.

"Diplomacy is the art of letting someone have your way." --Daniele Vare

A little subtler than the one I remember: "A diplomat is someone who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip."
