Sierra Times is "An Internet publication for Real Americans". A new addition to my links page. I've just barely started to graze there, and already I feel right at home (I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming). Patricia Neill (Keyboard Considered a weapon by ATF), is one of their editorialists. Far out! To see why I'm excited, check out her essays at Wolfe's Lodge. They've also got Vin Suprynowicz, and you know how I like him. Boy howdy!
I also added Dave's Picks to my weblogs list. It was his weblog that led me to Sierra Times. Dave is a proud member of the PoohSnif Network. Guess I am too, now.
Dallas Morning News - Texas' 'Dr. No' fights medals for O'Connor, Schulz - Dr. Ron Paul has once again been the lone nay-sayer in a vote in Congress. I'm sure he agreed with the sentiment, but he alone realized that the constitution does not authorize the awarding of medals by congress, hence any congress critter who votes for such a bill is a felon (my conclusion, not his). I first discovered Ron Paul when I was looking at Thomas one day and noticed him as the only nay-sayer in another bill. Dr. Paul, I salute you.
Internet World - Dumb U.S. Encryption Policy Is Finally, Quietly Changed: old news, but a good essay. "Or perhaps Washington finally realizes that the United States doesn't hold a monopoly on the fundamental mathematics that underlie electronic encryption systems, a fact that made the policy a joke from the beginning."
Slahsdot - Lobbying Against UCITA: A Practical Guide: mostly concerns details of lobbying in Maryland, but easily generalized to anywhere, assuming you think your local congress critter is worth your time.
Gnu.org - Gnu Go 2.6 plays the game of Go. I've never been very good at Go. Maybe I'll download this and work at getting better. Hmm... probably not.
Sourceforge - kissme is a GPLd Java Virtual Machine. Release 0.4 has native threads and the start of a generational garbage collector. No GUI libraries yet. Also looks like it doesn't include a compiler; they reference IBM's Jikes compiler.
