Second Cockatiel

Well, the girls in my family did it. They bought a second cockatiel to keep Sunshine company. So far, the new bird has been absolutely silent. She won't be out of her cage for a little while, so that's where I took this photo. My daughter hasn't named her yet (nor are we sure that's she's not a he).

It looks like a lutino, a sex-linked trait, which means it is most probably a male.

Mutations aren't sex-linked

Mutations aren't sex-linked traits, but your bird is indeed a lutino, or a lutino pearl.

You can't really tell a lutino cockatiel's sex just by looking at it. I have identified my lutino cockatiel to most likely be a female from her behaviour, how she is very cuddly and doesn't whistle.

Your new birdie is very adorable :) I wish you the best of luck with her (or him)
