Audacity

Audacity is a free audio editor and recorder. I found it via a Google search for audio capture windows free. JHymn doesn't work for iTunes 6 (I tried), and I have, unfortunately, upgraded from version 5 where it DOES work. I wanted to record the two James Blunt tunes I bought from iTunes ("You're Beautiful" & "No Bravery") onto a CD to play in my car, but my PC doesn't have a CD burner, so I needed to copy them to my wife's computer to burn the CD. Maybe it would have worked to bless my account over there and copy the locked files, but it was more fun to do it this way. If the RIAA and Disney have their way, it won't be possible to do this for much longer, or will be considered a felony, but I consider it to be fair use.

Anyway, Audacity did the trick. It allowed me to play the tunes through iTunes and copy the digital audio from my sound card. It does editing, too, and can convert between a number of formats. It's available for Windoze, Mac OSX, and a number of different Linux distributions, and as source code.
