# WWLTV has Hurricane Katrina coverage, including a live TV feed. It was category 5 yesterday, with 175 mph sustained winds. It's down to 150 mph now, category 4. The eye is passing east of New Orleans, which puts the weaker winds there. The northeast quadrant has the stongest winds. The storm was 70 miles southeast of New Orleans at 7:30 this morning (eastern time). Too early to tell how bad the damage will be. [dailykos]

# Dave Codrea - Everyone Certainly is Appreciative - New Orleans is providing the Superdome as a shelter, but they're searching bags and bodies of everyone entering, and stealing any potential weapon. [codrea]

Make no mistake--this is the way things will go down in every future major emergency. And no doubt everyone will certainly be appreciative.

# Claire Wolfe - Attacking government: a dog's point of view - does the pack instinct prevent us humans from attacking our "masters"? Maybe. But not forever. [claire]

# HydrogenSolar.com "is building a portfolio of hydrogen technologies and Intellectual Property aimed at the new hydrogen economy, which many believe will evolve alongside the oil economy and eventually overtake it." Their Tandem Cell™ turns sunlight into hydrogen. They have a 4-page brochure (PDF) explaining their technology. They are headquartered in Great Britain. This will soon enable people in sunny regions to make their own hydrogen for driving their cars and cooking their food. [smith2004]

# "The purpose of the Hymn Project is to allow you to exercise your fair-use rights under copyright law. The various software provided on this web site allows you to free your iTunes Music Store purchases (protected AAC / .m4p) from their DRM restrictions with no loss of sound quality. These songs can then be played outside of the iTunes environment, even on operating systems not supported by iTunes and on hardware not supported by Apple." I haven't tried it. [wes]
