The Hiroshima Lie

From smith2004:
"...but history was less important to them, and viewed from a radically different perspective. To most Americans, it's a succession of battles, wars, Presidents, and Kings. To Confederates, history's Thomas Edisons mean a lot more than its Lyndon Johnsons. Inventions, ideas, pholosophies, are central; invasions and elections are temporary abberations." -- The Probability Broach by L. Neil Smith

# Banksy - News - a sequence of photos showing graffiti that Banksy painted on the Palestine wall. Beautification of an atrocity. [sunni]

# Greg Staples - Calling all Libertarians - apparently, the Canadian government is increasing the penalties for crystal meth. Mr. Staples asks libertarians "why people should be allowed to take not only crystal meth but cocaine and heroin." I commented:

It's entirely a self-ownership issue. I own my life. Therefore, I have an absolute right to ingest in any way anything I please. That includes eating, smoking, injecting, anything. That includes marijuana, cocaine, meth, heroin, LSD, hemlock, arsenic, anything. The affects of my ingestion are entirely my responsibility. You are in no way compelled to help me should I overdose. If I default on my agreements because I am drugged, I am at fault.

If you attempt to stop me from using or selling drugs, directly or by passing a law that authorizes the police to stop me, you have initiated force, and I am within my rights to ignore you or forcefully make you and your hired henchmen desist. Every narc who ever arrests anyone for ingesting or selling drugs is guilty of assault and kidnapping. He should be tried, convicted, and hanged.

There is nothing to discuss here.

Personally, I have no interest in currently illegal drugs. Been there. Done that. If I had cancer, however, or AIDS, and needed a way to keep down my medicine, cannabis would become very interesting indeed. Prohibiting it is a crime against humanity.

# Adam Young at Strike the Root - How the Hiroshima Lie Endangers American Lives - think the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved lives? Think again. [root]

Bin Laden repeatedly refers to the Hiroshima atomic bombing in his speeches. Bin Laden, like the neocons and the other defenders of nuclear genocide, clearly believes the atomic attacks coerced the Japanese government into surrender. And bin Laden clearly believes, and even says that he is planning one, an atomic attack on one or more American cities will similarly coerce the U.S. government into surrendering and abandoning its occupation of the Middle East.
