# I sent the following to the Albany Times Union:

No More Entrapment

On August 5, two men, a religious leader and a co-founder of a downtown Albany house of worship, were arrested. They were alleged to have changed cash into checks in support of a faked plan to acquire a shoulder-fired missile. This was touted as a "sting" operation. I call it entrapment. Civilized countries, Mexico for example, don't allow entrapment. The United States shouldn't either.

Drop all charges against Mohammed Mosharref Hossain and Yassin Aref. Now. Repay them for suffering and lost time. Arrest the uniformed perpetrators and direct a Grand Jury to consider indicting them for kidnapping.

# BuzzFlash - Ashcroft Tells Libraries to Destroy Citizen-Friendly Publications - looks like Herr Reichsführer Ashcroft intends to ramp up asset forfeiture (armed robbery by another name). He's asked the Superintendent of Documents to instruct depository libraries to remove documents telling people how to recover their stolen property. [claire]

# Pelle Braendgaard - Introducing the NeuClear Account - I have tried out Mr. Braendgaard's NeuClear payment system. It looks neat. He has now created a consumer-oriented NeuClear.com, better oriented to non-geeks than the original NeuClear.org. It's only a few pages, but it's a start. [pelle]

# I received my 5-in-1 Multi-Purpose Tool from Sportsman's Guide. It's tiny. The shovel is more like a trowel. The Axe is dull. The awl and saw actually look potentially useful. Good thing it only cost $20.
