Your Gun Rights Could Soon Hang In The Balance

GOA via R. Lee Wrights at Liberty for All - Carolyn "ban-them-all" McCarthy is being helped by the NRA, of all people, to push H.R.297, the "NICS Improvement Act of 2007", which will beef up the National Instant Check System (NICS) database with more reports of "mentally defective" and "crime of domestic violence" proclamations. I sent a letter to my congress critter via the alert page, changing it to read:

As a supporter of Second Amendment rights, I do NOT support HR 297, the
NICS Improvement Act. I hope that you will OPPOSE this bill and urge your
party leadership to either kill it outright or to allow other pro-gun
amendments to be offered (repeal of the DC gun ban, reciprocity for
concealed carry holders, etc.).

If you see a need to do something to help prevent tragedies like the VA
Tech shootings, then you should start by repealing the Gun Free School
Zones Act, so that there will be a defender on hand the next time a crazy
person goes postal. Then you can get rid of the National Instant Check.
Once you get that done, repeal the 1968 Gun Control Act, and make it
legal, once again, to order firearms by mail. Finally, eliminate the
National Firearms Act, so that we can once again legally possess proper
militia firearms. An armed society is a polite society. And a safe one.

The Second Amendment's "shall not be infringed" means exactly this:

"Every man, woman, and responsible child has an unalienable individual,
civil, Constitutional, and human right to obtain, own, and carry, openly
or concealed, any weapon -- rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, ANYTHING
-- any time, any place, without asking anyone's permission." -- L. Neil
Smith

Make it so. Now.

Sincerely,

William St. Clair
