Thunderous news passes almost without notice
Mike Vanderboegh - Tennessee joins Montana in telling the feds that federal gun laws do not apply to firearms manufactured and sold entirely within their state. But, unlike Montana's governor, who supported their bill, Tennessee's governor, Phil Bredesen, let it pass without his signature, and wrote a letter (PDF) to the speaker of the Tennessee House, explaining that he believes that, "The Tennessee General Assembly lacks and Constitutional authority to limit the power and authority of the United States government in this manner," and "I am allowing it to become law so that it can quickly be dealt with by the federal courts."
You can read the text of the bill here (click on "HB 1796" in the title line to see the PDF).
