The Senseless Death of Carol Gotbaum

Diane Ravitch at Huffington Post - pretty good essay on the murder by cop of the lady who screamed, but didn't hurt anybody, at Sky Harbor International Airport. Ms. Ravitch got one thing wrong, there is absolutely no need for any of the sekurity theatre at airports, but the rest of the article is good.

According to them, the cops were only "following proper procedures." Hey, maggots, proper procedure for each and every one of you would be two to the head and one to the chest. Then drag you out to the field for your fellow scavengers to eat.

It has been widely reported in the press that when Carol missed her flight, she became hysterical. She was screaming, "I am not a terrorist. I am a sick mom. I need help." She was right on every count. She was not a terrorist; she threatened no one. She was a sick mom. She needed help. Perhaps this was one of the few -- maybe the only occasion--where she openly cried out for help.

Did she get help? No, she got the treatment that we would normally expect the police to use with a rabid dog or a vicious criminal. Did anyone speak kindly to her, put a hand on her shoulder and try to calm her? No, she was manhandled and roughly treated, adding to her agitation and distress.

Unless those free citizens stand with those who defend their civil liberties, we will be as the USSR was when the communists helped to fight the Nazis. Which was the worse evil?
USSR fell without one shot being fired. It doesn't take violence to bring down terrorism. It takes courage to defend freedom. When a country spends all its resources and energy keeping it's citizens in line, a dictatorship is the logical conclusion.
