Prosecutor's drug talk raises ire

Michele Morgan Bolton at The Albany (NY) Times Union - David Soros, the Albany County District Attorney, gave a speech in Canada criticizing the United States drug laws in general and New York's Rockefeller drug laws in particular. It raised the ire of the local police chief and sheriff. Good. Thank you, Mr. Soros.

I sent the following letter to the editor:

Bravo to David Soros for speaking out against the Rockefeller drug laws. The war on some drugs has imprisoned millions of peaceful people, people who hurt nobody. The war on some drugs is a crime against humanity. It is also a federal felony. 18 USC 241, "Conspiracy against rights," provides a sentence of up to ten years, or life or death if kidnapping is involved. Adults own their own bodies, hence they have the right to ingest anything they desire, no matter how harmful. Invalid arrest and imprisonment is kidnapping, in spades. Every legislator who ever voted to criminalize drugs, every cop who ever arrested someone for possessing drugs, and every DA who ever prosecuted a drug case is part of this conspiracy. Let the trials begin. Let the executions be televised.

I salute you sir! Pissing off the sheriff and cops is never to be taken lightly. But sometimes you must. Watch your back.

Not all that brave. The TU

Not all that brave. The TU has never printed one of my anti-drug-war letters. If they were going to print it, they would almost certainly have called me on Thursday or Friday. I received no such call. Bummer. I would have liked to have rubbed the pigs' face in their shit.
