Pot Shrinks Tumors; Government Knew in '74
Raymond Cushing at Alternet, via The American Medical Marijuana Association - one of the most censored stories of 2000 was a report by researchers in Madrid that marijuana shrunk tumors in rats. This mirrored research done, and supressed, by the US government in 1974.
I have long considered arresting somebody for ingesting a vegetable to be nothing short of kidnapping, a capital offense. Now I consider marijuana prohibition to be a crime against humanity. Yet another Nuremberg required.

Marijuana is already legal
Marijuana is already legal and in use for actual serious medical maladies, such as cancer. When my dad was in the hospital with serious type 3 cancer that was growing around his nerves, he was given regular injections of liquid marijuana. It was still illegal for him to grow it himself and to give it to himself, which basically mirrors the situation with strong opiates. It's illegal to grow opium and smoke it yourself, but if you actually have something wrong with you then you can get a legal prescription for it.
I really don't see anything wrong with the current laws. If something can be treated without marijuana, then it is. If marijuana is the best/only thing that'll treat it, then marijuana is used.
