Gmail "Temporarily Disabled"

Submitted by Bill St. Clair on Wed, 21 Apr 2010 14:53:23 GMT  <== Computers ==>

Out of nowhere today, Gmail required me to retype my password, and then told me that my account was "temporarily disabled", because of a "perceived violation of either the Google Terms of Service or product-specific Terms of Service." They didn't say exactly how I was alleged to have done that.

Google Account Temporarily Disabled

After thinking about it for a while, and realizing that since my iPhone service is from AT&T, any pig who wants my number can probably already get it, I gave them my cell phone number, and entered the code they texted to me. The first time, I was told that the service was temporarily unavailable and to retry in a few hours. I retried right away, and it worked the second time.

On logging in, I was told that Google had detected "suspicious activity" on my account and required that I change my password. They didn't tell me what exactly that activity was, and implied that it was my fault until I told them my cell phone number to reactivate.

Grumble...

much the same as Bill above, my Gmail was disabled. I had never before been hit with any malware that caused spamming from my email. Probably not the case this time. I know that two days in a row my system sent out a link to a blog along with Viagra/Cialis ads to all of my address book. I thought that I had disabled the culprit by removing GoogleTalk as I stopped receiving messages that my login failed(presumably because they disabled my acct) Subsequently, I found and removed the root kit on my system. Now I attempt to get access my email to find that the only way to do so looks a lot like a phishing scam (see Bill's screen cap above). I'll stop using the service before I'll give them information that they have zero reason to have. If anyone can clarify or assist me in this I'd be grateful.

This was your email as you are responsible for content you send and receive. Aren't you responsible for looking at your email and deciding whether a message is known or a spam . If there were fraud suspicious thing going on then aren't you responsible for how you deal with your personal information.

Why should google stop you from accessing email when it is not their problem they do not care about your best interest believe me they will ask for you blood sample one day which at this stage now its only your number and more questions will come around when they spot another "so called suspicious activity.

Look at google street map invasion of privacy do you need to know everything about a street you have pub landmarks supermarkets and common sense on reading a regular map. I have a new email account provider.

If anyone else is not aware of what goes on in google i would reccomend you to take a look this youtube video
