Federal Appeals Court Upholds Airport IDs

David Kravets at Associated Press - 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, after secret consideration, has ruled that John Gilmore's challenge to the requirement, via secret law, that travelers present identification at airports, or submit to search, is without merit. No mention yet of the decision over at PapersPlease.org. I hope they take it to the Supremes, and at least force them to deny hearing the case, thus proving that we now have a government of secret laws.

The court said Gilmore could leave the airport if he didn't want to show his ID and had other ways to get around besides air travel. It also rejected assertions that the act of showing identification was an illegal search of Gilmore, who made his millions as a founding employee of Sun Microsystems.

Gilmore's lawyer, William Simpich, said he is weighing whether to appeal.
