Dance Me to A Deer Collision
Last Sunday, August 17, I took a long scooter ride to Fall River, MA, to dance with Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds. On the way home, after midnight, I hit a deer, went down, rolled a few times, and broke seven ribs. Full story at billstclair.com/accident.html.

Wow, scary! Glad you're
Wow, scary! Glad you're more-or-less intact!
I've been grounded all summer, since getting a pulmonary embolism on a flight from Boston to Denver in May, and finally having it diagnosed at a hospital in Aspen (where I was attending and presenting at a C++ conference). The blood thinner drug they put me on, Xarelto, has many benefits: no blood monitoring, no injections (just take a little pill once per day), but one big downside: there's no "quick reversal" for this thinner...so I can't afford to suffer any kind of major trauma, like a motorcycle accident, and I agreed to stay off my bike until I'm off the medication...
Get well soon!
I promise to help with your recovery... no new jokes until you say your ribs have healed. :( I had pleurisy once, and that was torture just to breathe. Can't imagine that many broken ribs.
Get well soon! I have a joke you'd love. LOL
Wow, worst thing I have
Wow, worst thing I have had to deal with was a bee that got into my helmet. You are very lucky, just a short time ago a biker in this area had an unfortunate encounter with a Canada goose and was killed. Be careful.
I hope your recovery
I hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly.
Just curious - you refer to your 'armor' in your recounting. Do you mean just the usual type of protective gear common to motorcycle riding - or is this something more specialised? I've never heard anyone refer to their riding gear (jacket, boots, gloves, brain pan, etc.) as armor - though that's a fair description.
