The McCain-Feingold Insurrection

Appropriate to today's topic:
"Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." -- H.L. Mencken

From smith2004:

"For all the superficial parallels that can be drawn between Mssrs. Putin and Bush, they made an oddly matched pair during their February 24 meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia. After all, it could be said, one of them heads an increasingly authoritarian and lawless government that is pursuing a radical vision of global revolution rooted in the teachings of the Soviet Union's founders. The other is merely the president of the Russian Federation." -- William Norman Grigg

# GeekWithA.45 - The McCain-Feingold Insurrection - the Geek has picked a fine name for we bloggers to use as we loudly deny any f.e.c. attempt to enforce the Incumbent Protection Act in our domain. I have added his pirate flag to the top of my left-column links. Feces Flinging Monkey has some more good images, one of which I included below.

I will print whatever I wish in this space, independent of any so-called "law" forbidding it. No law-making body in these United States has the authority to deny me that right, and no police agency has the authority to enforce any such "law". The First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees me the right to free speech, and that right, like the right to keep and bear arms, precedes and supercedes any government edict. You want my guns? You want my pen or my keyboard? Then pry them from my cold dead hands. [geekwitha.45]

Cold Dead Hands

# John Farnam's Quips - 01Mar05: This is from a friend who just returned from a trip to the UK - Mr. Farnam's friend "gives" his Gerber folding knife to a London bobby to avoid arrest for carrying an illegal weapon.

I caution everyone who travels to the UK to 'live the stealth existence' and understand inherent risks in entering certain buildings. Next time, like you, I'm going to develop knee problems and travel with a Cold Steel City Stick, as you seem to have been able to take that everywhere.

Sadly, our brethren across the Pond have been castrated the Nanny State. I pray, for their sake, they're never again invaded. We must be constantly vigilant that it does not happen here."

# Andrew P. Napolitano at The Federal Observer - How the Government Breaks the Law - a judge tells of a few cases he knows where the gummint committed grevious crimes in order to obtain guilty verdicts or pleas. Includes an episode from Janet "Butcher of Waco" Reno's Florida career. [clairefiles]

It should be against the law to break the law. Unfortunately, it is not. In early 21st-century America, a dirty little secret still exists among public officials, politicians, judges, prosecutors, and the police. The government - federal, state, and local - is not bound to obey its own laws. I know this sounds crazy, but too many cases prove it true. It should be a matter of grave concern for every American who prizes personal liberty.

# bearman45 at America in Denial - Why I Don't Have A Concealed Weapons Permit - Ron refuses to ask the gummint's permission to defend his life and protect his loved ones. You should too. If some gummint agent doesn't like it, shoot him. [denial]

No matter what any politician or political body says, registration is ALWAYS a prelude to confiscation. It may take years, or even decades, but the politicians who solemnly promised that those registrations would "NEVER" be used against gun owners will eventually be out of office, even if they meant the promise in the first place. The members of the opposing party will then undertake to undo all the good work the original party in power did.

# David Codrea - FishOrMan Update - the guy who was arrested in December for legally carrying his handgun in his car in Ellensburg, WA has taken a plea bargain. According to his web site, he still has another active case, but I didn't understand his description of it. [codrea]
