# Students for an Orwellian Society is a satirical take-off on the now defunct Students for a Democratic Society. "Because 2004 is 20 years too late." Hehe. [smith2004]
# bob lonsberry - Affirmative Action Bake Sale at U of R - some University of Rochester students held an Affirmative Action Bake Sale where people of different races and sexes were charged different prices. This idea is not new. A number of college republican groups have been doing it around the country. Thirty-five members of the university's faculty lodged a written protest with university President Thomas H. Jackson. Still not new. Many of the other bake sales were shut down by their college administrations. What is new in this case is that the president realized that the bake sale was symbolic speech, protected by the first amendment, and said so. Bravo, Mr. Jackson! [trt-ny]
# I read Tom Kratman's A State of Disobedience yesterday. Bought a used copy through Amazon.com. Kept my attention, though it was mostly description of war scenes with a little politics thrown in. Texas secedes from the union over a Waco-like incident.
