Israel's Fence

From kaba:
If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago, and a racist today. -- Thomas Sowell

From Life 102: What to Do When Your Guru Sues You:

I never lecture, not because I am shy or a bad speaker, but simply because I detest the sort of people who go to lectures and don't want to meet them. -- H.L. Mencken

Tony Auth - 7/31/2003 - cartoon commentary on Israel's fence. An article saying that some are calling this cartoon anti-semitic is here at Liberty Forum. [libertyforum]

Nate asked why I link to birdman, a "raving anti-semite". Nate is loathe to recommend my site to his friends or link to it because of that. I don't consider myself to be anti-semitic, though I do think that some of Israel's behavior is despicable, hence I appreciate Mr. Auth's cartoon. I answered:

My wife has the same opinion. I don't like Birdman's anti-semitism, but he has other stuff I do like. As with everything in this world, I take what works for me and ignore the rest. I handle the Indymedia sites the same way. They are mostly raving communists, but they occasionally cover important stories, so I link to those when I find them.

Michael C. Ruppertat From the Wilderness - Where Is The Money? - trillions of dollars are missing from the U.S. treasury, as documented at www.whereisthemoney.org, which contains a running counter showing how quickly the DOD's $1.1 trillion per year of undocumented adjustments adds up. Mr. Ruppert seems to think that this stolen money could result in more "services". Looks to me like it could mean the end of the income tax. [smith2004]

The September, 2003 issue of Guns Magazine, on newstands now, but not yet on their web site, contains an article by John Taffin entitled "Guns in the Classroom?" Mr. Taffin describes how he regularly gave classes about guns and hunting before 1995, that shotguns and .22 rifles were stored in the cloak room of his school and used on the way home. He did it again recently: took an assortment of old buffalo guns to a second grade class, talked about bison hunting, and taught the NRA's Eddie Eagle message: if you see a gun, don't touch it, find an adult. Bravo, Mr. Taffin!

Kim du Toit - Gun Show Time - Kim is going to look for a bayonet for his M1 Carbine. He includes a message for the GFWs (Gun-Fearing Wussies, aka hoplophobes):

I want a bayonet not because I want to stab someone, but because it would look nice as an accessory to my M1 Carbine -- not that I have to justify my purchase to the likes of you, however.

Oh, and just so you know: I probably wouldn't be looking to buy one, except that for some reason bayonets seem to frighten Dianne Feinstein and she wants to ban them.

So I'm going to get one.

(I probably wouldn't have any high-capacity magazines for my AK-47 either -- they're heavy and clumsy, but seeing as Feinstein wants to ban both the AK and the hi-cap mags, I got both.)
