Merry Christmas

I'm writing this from my mother-in-law's house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We had a bit of an adventure getting here. My back was hurting too much to leave on Saturday as originally planned, so I went to the Chiropractor and slept a lot. The car battery was dead on Sunday morning, so I charged it with the trickle charger, then took the kids to breakfast while Karla finished packing. I didn't leave the car running long enough to charge the battery, so it wouldn't start again in the restaurant parking lot. I called AAA, but one of the vendors at the Sunday flea market jumped me before they arrived with a portable jump-start kit. He sells them but didn't have any at the time. Sounds like $50 well spent to me. I'll repay him by buying one from him some future Sunday. We finally got off around 11:30am. Spent Sunday night at a friend's house in Reston, Virginia, outside the D.C. beltway. On Monday morning we stopped at a McDonald's just around the corner from the friend's house to get some sustenance. On leaving, an SUV and I backed in to each other. He got some scratches and dents, but our bicycle carrier completely destroyed the back windshield. Some 6 mil plastic and duct tape made for a good temporary fix, but the two or three hour delay made us very late. We rolled in to Grandma's house, coffee assisted, at about 11:30pm. But we made it.

Blessings to you and your loved ones for a free and joyous holiday!
