Claire Wolfe at Sierra Times - Long Live President Gushing Bore: Claire makes a good point that no matter which of the two socialists wins, the state will continue to get bigger. All this election mixup is actually good for the country. It will leave us with a president who can't do much, as it should be. [sierra]
It's just that things like ... oh, presidential elections, aren't exactly the biggest deal in our lives. They're not as important as, say, the Crucial Question of whether Morty, who runs both the funeral parlor and the ambulance service (a combination some consider highly suspect in the first place), should also provide the meat for the annual Veteran's Day barbecue. These are Big Matters. Especially to anybody who sincerely worries about additives in his hamburger.

Camille Paglia at Salon - Becoming president under a noxious cloud: Ms. Paglia berates the democrats for a page, wags her finger at the Gush and Bore, bemoans Hitlary's election to the senate, props up Nader, the socialist she voted for, and spends a page on a movie, football, and the lack of a good fast-food hotdog.

Neither of the presidential candidates has been impressive over the past week. Gov. George W. Bush, with his patched boil and befuddled manner, has looked like a nervous student reporting for his orals examination. Vice President Al Gore, posing in a clunky game of touch football, exploited his family once more for a photo op, then muffed two public statements, one by pomposity and the other by grinning vacuity. The negligibly talented Bush is in over his head, while the schizoid Gore is a conceited mannequin choked with his own sawdust.

Paul Zimmerman at Sierra Times - Defiance to Tryanny Continues in Indianapolis: Mr. Zimmerman stayed in the Indianapolis Baptist Temple all night. No federal marshalls appeared, yet. [sierra]

Charles Wilson of AP via the Star Tribune - Ind. Church Awaits IRS Seizure: And a mainstream press article. [market]

Netscape 6 is out. I don't plan to try it. I'm happy with Opera, and IE works for me where Opera doesn't. [cafe]

Jonathan Hayward - A Four Dimensional Maze: nice puzzle! [cafe]
