Peter McWilliams left his body on Wednesday, choked on his own vomit. Killed by government agents who wouldn't allow him to smoke the medicine that would have prevented his nausea. God Bless You Peter. Roast in hell, drug warriors. I never met Peter in person, but it was his book, Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do: The Absurdity of Consensual Crimes in Our Free Country, that introduced me to libertarian thought. A bright light has been snuffed out by government hate.

The Week Online with DRCNet - Goodbye to Peter McWilliams.

Joel on Software - Whaddaya mean, you can't find programmers? some basic economics, and little things that are worth more than they cost: [latte]

And this is the key to making people want to work for you: you have to understand that people spend most of their waking hours at work, and they are going to take it personally, and they are not going to be willing to suffer throughout their career just for a little extra cash they can spend when they retire. Work needs to be rewarding and pleasant. Doing things that make work rewarding and pleasant is the most important part of attracting people.

J. Orlin Grabbe's web site, http://www.aci.net/kalliste/, is back! I got an answer to the email I sent to him, kalliste@aci.net. The Electronic Zola wrote, "Hard drive failure at aci.net, or some such nonsense." It was just a technical glitch.

Keith Dawson at TBTF - Takin' names ('n' sellin' 'em): Mr. Dawson comments on a phone conversation with Gina Rizzi of World Data, who called on behalf of Ziff Davis to attempt a mailing list trade:

So let's see if I have this straight. I pay ZD over $1000 to add, possibly, 50 names to my free newsletter's subscriber list. Meanwhile, as soon as I send their message to the TBTF list, 7,000 subscribers resign in disgust, 1,200 flame me publically and mercilessly, and 74 attempt to break into and trash my server. Four succeed.

Sounds like a fine deal to me.

Because we have nothing better to do!

Join us in destroying the 2nd Amendment

We do not expect the licensing of gun owners to make a bit of difference in the safety of our children or to lower crimes with guns but we don't give a hoot, because we know that licensing and registration is the first step to total confiscation and that is what our ultimate goal is.

Colonel Dan at Sierra Times - Political Statements of my Dreams: What Dan would like to hear a presidential candidate say. No mention of the war on freedom, er... some drugs. Still, a good list. The link will break in a week and likely move to here. I wish Sierra Times would make permanent URLs right away. [sierra]

Joe Farrah at WorldNetDaily - I am not a number: Joe says to get rid of the social security number. I'm with him. I go one step further: while we're at it, get rid of social security and medicare, entirely. [wnd]

Jon E. Dougherty at WorldNetDaily - 2nd Amendment defended by judges: Gun-toting jurists uphold individuals' right to bear arms: more on United States v. Emerson. [wnd]

According to the report, Judge Robert M. Parker, a Carter appointee who was moved to the appellate court by President Clinton, told the government, "I don't want you to lose any sleep over this, but Judge Will Garwood (the senior judge) and I between us have enough guns to start a revolution in most South American countries."
