# Matt Siegel at The Village Choice - There are No Terrorists, You Stupid Fuckers - scroll down to the "Rant of the Week". Why searching subway riders in the Big Apple is stupid and unnecessary.
You could bomb a random joint once each week. It's easy. So if there were really terrorists in NYC, wouldn't they be out bombing things?

Don't tolerate the loss of your freedoms over this bullshit. Our country should not be run in order to create a perception of safety for stupid people.

# Becky Akers at LewRockwell.com - It's Still Martial Law Even If No One's Declared It Yet - welcome to police state Amerika, where M16-armed cops can empty a bus and search everyone on a phone call from the bus company about some "suspicious" tourists. [clairefiles]

# Beth Duff-Brown of AP via Information Week - Homeland Security To Launch RFID Systems At Border Crossings - mandatory tracking for foreigners entering the U.S. at "designated border crossings in Canada and Mexico". Will supposedly speed border crossings for regular travelers. [claire]

# Jacob G. Hornberger at LewRockwell.com Bail, Fines, and Cruel and Unusual Punishments - short dissertation on the Eighth amendment, which the Busheviks have been ignoring of late. [lew]

# Fog Creek Software's Copilot service, as documented in Joel Spolsky's article, Project Aardvark Midterm Report, is up and running for use by private beta testers. They expect to open for public beta soon and full launch early in August. It looks good except that they charge $9.95 for a single day's use. That's too much. At that price I'll never use it. It should cost fifty cents or a dollar. I might pay $5 for something urgent. For corporate use, however, it might be worth $10.
