Forend Grip Works Good

All our liberties are due to men who, when their conscience has compelled them, have broken the laws of the land. -- William Kingdon Clifford

From smith2004:

Chappaqua, New York

Slick Willie Clinton was recently jogging in his neighborhood (alone, without Secret Service protection for some reason, perhaps for the set up in this joke... ! ) where many other high powered executives also jog.

On each run, he happened to jog past a hooker standing on the same street corner, day after day.

Apprehensive, he would brace himself as he approached her for what was most certainly about to follow (knowing his reputation for sexual experiences).

"Fifty dollars!" she would shout from the curb.

"No. Five dollars!" fired back Clinton.

This ritual between the ex-president and the hooker continued for several days. Each time he ran past: she'd holler, "Fifty dollars" He'd yell back, "Five dollars!"

One day, Senator Hillary had decided that she wanted to accompany her husband on his jog. As the jogging couple neared the now infamous street corner, Bill suddenly realized the "pro" would bark her $50 offer for all to hear (including Hillary) and he would have to come up with a real good explanation for his longtime loving spouse.

As they jogged into the turn that would take them past her, Bill was almost overcome with anxiety on how to handle this most recent sleezy situation.

Sure enough, there she was, standing where she always did. Bill tried to subtly evade the streetwalker's eyes as she looked up at the other jogging executives nearby.

Then from the sidewalk, she yelled to Bill,

"See what you get for five bucks?!"

The TacStar forend grip worked like a charm. I was able to hold on while shooting 00 buck and rifled slugs. It stung my left hand between the thumb and forefinger, that being the place that absorbed most of the recoil, so gloves are in order should I ever shoot it a lot, but it'll work fine for self defense.

We saw Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron yesterday afternoon. This is a new Disney/Dreamworks animation. "The Spirit that could not be broken." Wonderful story about freedom and love. A tear jerker. I heartily recommend it for children from nine to ninety.

MCRP 3-01A, Rifle Marksmanship is a Marine Corps manual, in PDF, 4889K. It concerns the M16A2 service rifle. Operation, maintenance, firing, sling, positions, sighting, tactics. Opera warned me about a missing link in the security chain, or some such. Ignorning the warning allowed the download to proceed without incident.

Every Marine is first and foremost a rifleman. MCRP 3-01A reflects this ethos and the Marine Corps' warfighting philosophy. This publication discusses the individual skills required for effective rifle marksmanship and standardizes the techniques and procedures used throughout the Marine Corps. It constitutes the doctrinal basis for all entry-level and sustainment-level rifle marksmanship training.

Robert Sharpe at the Albany (NY) Times Union - War on drugs does more harm than good - nice to see this at the TU.

Like alcohol prohibition in the 1920s, the drug war is causing tremendous societal harm, while failing miserably at preventing use. Drug laws fuel organized crime and violence. That justifies increased drug-war spending. It's time to end this madness and start treating all substance abuse, legal or otherwise, as the public health problem it is. Jail cells are inappropriate as health interventions and ineffective as deterrents.
