April Fools Day, 2002

From The Lord of the Rings, Volume Three, The Return of the King, Book 5, chapter IX, The Last Debate:
Other evils there may come, for Sauron is himself but a servant or emissary. Yet it is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule. -- The Wizard Gandalf (aka Mithrandir)

I'm sick. Hence not much news today. billstclair.com experienced some technical difficulties yesterday. It appears to be back in operation.

Read The Libertarian Enterprise.

Garry Reed has a new Loose Cannon Libertarian article.

Ban Handguns Now is the Violence Policy Center's new site promoting the book, Every Handgun is Aimed At You. Sarah Brady said that she does not want to disarm people. Her group is now strongly advocating just that. If you're feeling motivated, go write an Amazon review of the book.

Statistics have nothing to do with your right to defend yourself against criminals, be they private or public criminals. The right to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with sporting. It is about your right and duty to keep government in line, with extreme prejudice when necessary. It is way past time to water the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I wish this book and the entire victim disarmament movement were just an April Fool's joke in very bad taste. No such luck.
