Castrating an Ego

The only problem with not castrating
A gigantic ego is

That it will surely become amorous
And father
A hundred screaming ideas and kids

Who will then all quickly grow up
And skillfully proceed

To run up every imaginable debt
And complication of which your brain
Can conceive.

This would concern normal parents
And any seekers of freedom

And the local merchants nearby
As well.

They could very easily become forced
To disturb your peace;

All those worries and bills could turn to
Wailing ghosts.

The only problem with not lassoing
A runaway ego is

You won't have much desire to sing
In this sweet
World.

Bill St. Clair at the Albany (New York) Times Union - Constitution enshrines right to carry weapon - The TU printed my letter today. They removed a "however", took out a comma in front of an "and", capitalized "Constitution", invented a new title, and missed the italics on the word "anything", but otherwise printed it exactly as I submitted and published it here last Friday. I've already received a "well said" email. I'm sure I'll get lots of hate mail as well. C'est la guerre. Here's the letter, as they printed it:

Constitution enshrines right to carry weapon

First published: Thursday, March 7, 2002

I agree with Rich Del Favero's Feb. 28 letter that, like a driver's license, a handgun permit from one state should be valid in all 50 states. I disagree with him on one important point.

We already have a concealed carry permit that is valid in all 50 states. It requires no background check, no fingerprints, no safety training, no fee and no wait. It's called the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

This means, in the words of L. Neil Smith, that "Every man, woman and responsible child has an unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional and human right to obtain, own, and carry, openly or concealed, any weapon -- rifle, shotgun, handgun, machine gun, anything -- any time, any place, without asking anyone's permission." Any law to the contrary is unconstitutional, hence null and void.

New York Tyranny Response Team - Report from Washington, DC Truth in Taxation Hearing - some pictures and text about last week's hearing.

The hearing left no doubt that the IRS has been operating illegally since its inception. The irreversible destruction and damage this agency has caused is nothing short of an atrocity committed upon the citizens of America! It was almost more than a decent person could bear to hear.

The sworn testimony of former IRS agents was moving, to say the least. Their bravery and honesty should be an inspiration to other agents who have not yet found the courage to act on the truths that many of them hold in their hearts.
