Dave Polaschek has a recommendation for Traficant after his accusation of treasonous behavior by Janet Reno: [picks]
Hmm. I'd stay away from skiing vacations if I was him. Y'never know when those killer trees are going to strike again.

Dave also has lots of pointers to stories about Orwell-esque police activities around the nominating conventions, etc. [picks]

Ron Paul's Texas Straight Talk Right to Privacy Too Often Overlooked: Dr. Paul reminds us of his "Freedom and Privacy Restoration Act" (h.r. 220), which limits government use of the social security number, and the "Census Privacy Act" (h.r.4085), which prohibits the census bureau from asking for anything but name, address, and number of people per residence. Thank you, Dr. Paul, for working to preserve our privacy.

Bill Velek's Boycott of anti-gun businesses. Mr. Velek is a judge who is doing something about businesses with anti-gun policies. He is asking people to give the card below to the owners of businesses that post a prohibition of customer gun possession on their premises. He asks that you then walk out and boycott the business. His Nationwide Businesses to Boycott page includes Blockbuster Video, Dell, FedEx, Hardee's, State Farm Insurance. He asks you to boycott your local store only if they post a gun prohibition. The vast majority of technology companies fail. That is market Darwinism at work. Through no fault of your own, chances are you currently work at one of the eventual losers. If you are prepared, this experience will be little more than an opportunity for an unpaid vacation. If you are caught flat footed, it can be a very traumatic experience. With a little forethought, effort, and strategy, you will be in control.

Jetty 3.0a99 is available from MortBay. I'm very happy with the version 2 release that I'm using for my WebUIM. This is an alpha release. When it goes beta, I'll probably download it. They've moved to XML for the configuration files and it is now resource based instead of file based so the configuration files can be stored in a JAR file. Yes! [meat]

JDE is a Java Development Environment for Emacs. Something else to explore in my copious spare time. Added to my links page. [meat]

The Lindesmith Center/Drug Policy Foundation - Video Clips of the Failed Drug War: Video excerpts of speeches given at the Shadow Convention in Philadelphia. Requires RealPlayer. Worked fine over my modem. I especially liked Reverend Edwin Sanders. "This has got to end!"
