Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I'm off to the Ukraine tomorrow morning, in sha' allah. We contract software out to a small company in Lviv. My User Interface Manager (UIM) is far enough along that we can get them started putting a GUI front-end on our product. Next week will be the training session and project kick-off. Don't know if I'll manage to update End the War on Freedom from there. They've got a 56K baud net connection, so it's certainly possible, but I don't know how much time I'll have.

Dave Winer - Touch of Gray: Dave's telling of his visit to Esther Dyson's PC Forum conference. Good stuff! I love you, Dave. [script]

Vin Suprynowicz at Sierra Times - The vaccination parade is all 'for the children': in which a mother refuses to immunize her children, they are kidnapped at 1am by the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, and one of them is murdered by the new foster mother. [sierra]

Bill Joy at Wired - Why the future doesn't need us: This is the article that everyone was making noise about on Monday. It's in this month's paper issue, but I haven't read it yet. Guess this will be one more thing to read on the plane to the Ukraine, along with a couple of books that have been sitting on my table for a while. [wnd]

Matt Carolan at ZDNet News - Bill Joy is a killjoy: one man's response to Bill Joy's out-there article. I agree with Matt that it's unlikely that we're going to create an artificial intelligence smart enough to wipe us out any time soon. [wnd]
