Aircraft Bomb Plot Thwarted in Britain
Associated Press via The New York Times - an undisclosed number of unidentified "terrorists", who allegedly planned to blow an unspecified number of airplanes out of the air with hidden explosives in their carry-on luggage, were arrested in England. Carry-on baggage restrictions were increased. They don't even need a real incident any more to grope the sheeple. [clairefiles]
Passengers in Britain faced delays as tighter security was hastily enforced at the country's airports and additional measures were put in place for all flights. Laptop computers, mobile phones, iPods, and remote controls were among the items banned from being carried on board.
Liquids, such as hair care products, were also barred, raising the possibility that authorities were searching for a liquid explosive.
Liquids out, opaque containers OK
http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/threat-change.shtm has the real scoop. Liquids are banned, except for baby forumula and juice for children and prescription medications bearing the passengers name. And it looks like they're now searching most if not all bags.
No mention of electronics or opaque containers.
I think the restrictions
I think the restrictions Bill mentioned that went above and beyond the TSA's new rules were for the UK airports only.
That's true. Liquids were
That's true. Liquids were banned in Amerika. Additionally, electronics and opaque bags were banned in England. I don't think they'd get away with banning laptops here. But I am constantlly amazed that I don't hear about daily strangulations of Taking Scissors Away goons.
No liquids or opaque containers
I heard on the radio this morning that the sekurity precautions have been increased at the local airport. No liquids of any kind, including hand lotion and beverages, will be allowed on the airplane. No opaque containers will be allowed. Only clear plastic purses and backpacks.
Gag me with a spoon.
