Harry Browne at WorldNetDaily - The Supreme Court Scam: GW Bush says that you should vote for him to prevent algore from stacking the supreme court. Well, republican presidents appointed 7 of the 9 judges. Harry asks 6 questions of any potential supreme court judge about the plain English in the constitution. He makes commentary on these questions that I suggest you read, but I'm going to list them here as a reminder. Bravo, Harry!
  1. Can you read?
  2. What do the words "Congress shall make no law" mean?
  3. What do the words "shall not be infringed" mean?
  4. Do the thousands of gun laws now on the books infringe in any way whatsoever on the "right of the people to keep and bear arms"?
  5. What rights do the people no longer have, and where in the Constitution were those rights taken from the people?
  6. Where in the Constitution was it delegated to the United States government the power to interfere in education, health care, law enforcement, welfare, charity, corporate welfare, or any of the many other areas that form a part of today's overbearing, over-regulating, over-expensive federal government?

Doug Porter at Cryptome - A pocket guide to NSA sabotage: I've seen a lot of pointers to this article, so I finally read it. The NSA has been convincing engineers to put security holes in their products. Noone knows that the recent PGP bug was such an intentional hole, but it may have been. The only way to prevent this kind of thing is source code review by people independent of the firm selling the product. [picks]

We can do the security reviews, or we can settle for NSA trojans. I'm going to go read some Freenet code.

Michael Y. Park at Fox News - Amateur Webmaster Unveils Underworld Dealings: a nice profile of Cryptome's John Young. [unknown]

"I'm a weirdo and a maverick and a criminal," he said.

Nancy Johnson at Sierra Times - Use of Force in Defense of Liberty: Ms. Johnson comments on Jeff Head's petition. She cautions people that the tyrants may consider it a criminal conspiracy to sign the petition. She agrees with its sentiment, but warns us to sign it in our hearts, and act when necessary, instead of giving ourselves away by putting our names on paper, er... disk. The petition is printed in the article. You can sign it here. There are 627 signatures since Jeff Head posted it on August 31. [sierra]

Lew Rockwell at LewRockwell.com - Bush's 'Gaffe': Commentary on GW's recent choice and appropriate words about Adam Clymer of the New York Times. [lew]

LewRockwell.com - Baby Knows How to Handle Hillary: But will the electorate follow his lead? I hope so. Pow! Right on the kisser. [lew]

There's a new article in The Libertarian series by Vin Suprynowicz:

  • Nevadans may get to vote on state income tax - The Nevada teachers union has gathered 84,000 petition signatures to place a referendum on the ballot this fall to create an income tax in Nevada. That's right, Nevada is one of the few states in the union that has not yet adopted "one of the linchpins of the century-old platform of Norman Thomas' Socialist Workers Party: an income tax." Here's hoping the residents of Nevada have the brains to stop the teacher's union from robbing them even more than they're already robbed by their property taxes.
