Rob Colbert has promised us that Gab will contain NO Ruby very soon. His team is going to switch it to the same Hydra backend now used by the Dissenter browser plugin backend.
I'll be interested to see how the Hydra Node.js backend compares with Pleroma's Elixir under heavy load. My intuition is that that Elixir will win hands down, but only real performance testing will tell for sure.
Rob talked about his plans for Hydra here.
An early version of Hydra Base, which I think Rob has changed since its last commit to GitHub (February 11) is at github.com/robcolbert/hydra-base
Please post updates for Hydra work in the fediverse, mentioning @firstname.lastname@example.org.
